Caring Ministries
We are all called to be ministers to the lonely or the hurting. We are all called to help people at various times of transition, whether the transition is welcome, like a new baby or a new home, or where the transition is hard, like the loss of a job or death of a loved one. We all need help at some point in our lives. You don’t have to be a pastor or deacon to be involved in caring ministries.
Here are some ways to help:
- Visitation to the homebound or those who reside in assisted living, including bringing Holy Communion.
- Quilting, prayer shawl knitting and crocheting, mat weaving, collection of toiletries and school supplies – Items are gifted to overseas and domestic ministries, including local organizations like the
- Homeless Coalition, Domestic Violence Crisis Center, Project Bee, and the Northern Plains Children’s Advocacy Center.
- Giving someone without transportation a ride to worship and other church activities.
- Card ministry to people who are isolated by disability, age, illness, or imprisonment.
- Prayer ministry team that receives confidential prayer requests.
- Threshold Choir is a group of 6 to 8 people who go to the bedside of a person who is in hospice and sing songs of hope and comfort.
